Maria Koletsou has been actively angel investing since 2008, spanning various industries and regions. As an experienced angel investor and a multi-exited founder, she brings a comprehensive understanding of angel investments and their impact on founders from all perspectives. In 2024, Maria founded Blossom Ventures with a vision to create a female angel investors' club to increase female participation in angel investments and the startup ecosystem, which remains notably low. The lack of funding for female founders is partly due to the limited involvement of women in investment decision-making vehicles such as syndicates and VCs.
Maria began her career in finance at institutions like Bear Stearns and Renaissance Capital. She then founded Novus Finance, providing advisory and placement agent services to medium and large-cap companies from pre-IPO to post-IPO stages. Over a decade, she raised close to €3 billion and advised over 120 companies. After exiting Novus Finance, Maria founded and exited five companies while investing across industries through a family holding office.
Maria holds a PhD in Applied Econometrics from the London School of Economics and an MSc and BSc in Economics from Essex University.
